Bruges

"Bruges is a beautiful medieval city almost untouched by time. If you like jazz, you will be well catered for. If you like chocolate and beer, you will be in heaven."
-- James Frain (British actor)

Often referred to as the "Venice of Belgium”, Bruges is an enchanting town in the northern part of Belgium with streets filled with charming historic houses and pretty canals. It is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval cities in Western Europe. The newly cleaned houses are centuries old and in some of the quieter areas of the town, you can actually imagine what life in the late Middle Ages must have been like.

This gorgeous city is poetic at any time of the year. Horse-drawn carriages plod along tiny cobbled streets, handmade stone bridges cross over canals filled with swans, secret gardens and quiet, pictorial spots are waiting to be discovered across the city.
